How to Buy a Farm Tractor from China in 2026

Specify horsepower and 4WD first. Lock cab, tyres, and certificates on the PI. Pay against a factory video of your serial — then CIF.

A farm tractor from China is specified, not shopped. You name horsepower, drive, cab, and port. The factory names a model, films the serial, then quotes FOB or CIF. This is how importers in Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, and the Gulf actually buy — not by clicking a cart.

1. Start with the implement, not the hood

Chinese export tractors are numbered by horsepower and drive: a 254 is 25 HP 4WD; a 704 is 70 HP 4WD. The last digit 4 means four-wheel drive. Buying the largest number on the page is how people pay freight twice.

JobStart hereFOB China (typical)
Under 5 ha, light tiller25–50 HP compact$5,800–$13,200
Loader + 3-furrow classJT-704 utility$12,500–$18,000
Cab, medium fields80–120 HP farm$15,800–$32,000
Wide disc, all-day tillage130–220 HP heavy$24,000–$68,000

If you already own the plough or tiller, photograph it. Hitch class follows the tool. Read how much HP before you ask for “the catalogue.”

2. 4WD is the export default

Wet soil, a front loader, and a loaded trailer all argue for 4WD. Two-wheel drive is cheaper and the first regret in mud. We still quote 2WD on compact machines when the plot is hard and flat and you are not hanging a loader. See 2WD vs 4WD and why export desks default to 4WD.

3. Lock the spec on the proforma

  • Drive, cab vs ROPS, heater / A/C
  • Tyre size — especially on heavy tractors
  • E-MARK or EPA only if your market needs the serial file, not a PDF from another chassis (E-MARK vs EPA)
  • Loader or tiller as a kit on this tractor, not a second shop

4. Pay against a filmed serial

30% T/T deposit. Factory video of your serial before the balance. Catalogue photos are the class. This is the same five-step path as how a tractor leaves Jining and import from China.

5. CIF to a named port

CIF adds ocean and insurance to Mombasa, Lagos / Apapa, Manila, or Jebel Ali. It does not pay duty. Details: what CIF includes, Kenya, Nigeria.

FAQ

How much is a farm tractor from China?

FOB China for a 50 HP 4WD is typically $8,800–$14,500. A 70 HP 4WD (704 class) is about $12,500–$18,000. CIF to Africa is extra ocean and insurance.

Is it safe to pay a deposit?

Pay 30% T/T only after the PI names the model, options, and that a factory video of that serial comes before the balance.

FOB or CIF?

FOB is the tractor in China. CIF adds freight and insurance to a named port. Duty and VAT stay with your broker.
